Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions:

Don't hesitate to contact us if you can't find the answer you're looking for in our database.

Are you hesitating between the two?

The technical specifications are the same, so the choice is mainly aesthetic!

If you prefer to see the cork grains, choose SEACORK ORIGINAL for its natural look,

For a very uniform finish, choose SEACORK PLUS.

To make sure you choose the best solution between slats, rollers and sheets, we advise you to refer to our guide to sheets and rollers or to consult us via the contact forms or by sending us an e-mail.

The choice depends on the configuration of your boat and its surface. Curved slats are perfect for covering complex surfaces.

Our guide: choice of formats.

Making a template is a crucial step. As a general rule, the person who takes the measurements for the template must be the fitter. Sending a template is necessary for us to be able to manufacture elements of your deck (straight, framed straight) even if the transoms are made of curved battens and installed in situ. Taking the template is essential and must be precise.

We recommend that you refer to our guide: Jigging.

to calculate your surface areas

A trapezoidal or triangular shape will generate more losses than a rectangular shape. This must be taken into account when calculating the surface areas.

And don't forget to include extra boards for the edging. Check that the choice of blade is suited to the curvature of the boat.

Any special shapes will be cut from a blank plate.

Don't forget to add a minimum of 10 cm for the mitre cut of the outer frames of the hatches.

Add 5 to 10 % of off-cuts

How do you prepare the surfaces to be covered?

please refer to our preparation guide

Please refer to our guide: installation guide.

For optimum maintenance, we recommend that you reapply the saturator every year;

We recommend sanding the cork every two years if necessary to give your deck a lighter shade.

of note:

Never reduce the viscosity of the material in the bucket by diluting with water, as the lighter cork will rise to the surface and not project properly. To obtain a good mix, you need to stir, stir and stir again. When the consistency of a slightly thick cream is obtained, spray... and stir again if necessary.

The compressor is a key element in the success of the projection. Its output must be continuous.

the gun consumes 220L/min. The compressor must compress to 8 bars (50L at 8 bars), so that there is still 4 bars left (this is the minimum pressure): the pressure must always remain above this to be able to spray continuously.

The occasional spray gun is designed for limited application. It must be cleaned very quickly to prevent the Seacork Hull from drying out and blocking the spray.

The professional spray gun is designed for repeated use on large surfaces.

Pistolet pro

The drying time for Seacork Hull varies according to temperature and humidity.

To make sure that Seacork Hull is dry, if the shade is natural, its colour changes from purple when it is sprayed to natural brown when it is dry.

If the colour is white, it must be dry to the touch before applying the next coat.

Never spray more than a 1mm layer. Never spray over a layer that is not completely dry.

The gun must be cleaned meticulously with water, immediately after use.

Please refer to our operating procedure guide

It is possible to sand the Seacork Hull but the grain will be partly uncovered, so you will end up with a heterogeneous colour with slight speckled marks.
